*the flash back continued*
Yapioko: All three of us?
Kaichi: Yes. I have got to let you go, it was an order from the top.
Chyaku: What about this Force 173?
Kaichi: Someone will takes over.
Matsuki: Not the best feeling, but I guess we have to.
Kaichi: This transfer also mean a promotion of one rank for three of you. Cpt. Narami and Cpt. Rai, both of you are the youngest Captains ever in UN history.
Matsuki: (To Chyaku) I'm three months younger than you. So, I'm the one in the history book.
Chyaku: Yar, yar.
(2 days later)
The plane landed safely in the Tokyo-2 international airport. Being potential EVA pilots meant that they will have top security protection. They were taken out of the airport from a secret tunnel, which the Prime Minister used. A car took them toward their destination.
Chyaku: Excited?
Yapioko: Of course. EVAs are supposed to be the only thing that can save us from that monster called Angel now.
Matsuki: I am not very excited. I feel something is wrong, my instinct.
Chyaku: I share you feeling.
Yapioko: (in thought) To the matter of fact, same here.
The car continued to drive off. After five minutes, it stopped. They alight.
The driver spoke to them.
Driver: (pointing to a small house) This is the living quarter for the 4 of you. Yes, four, one of them have been living here since last year.
They went in as the driver drove off. They put off their shoes and a boy appeared. Seeing his new flat-mates in number3 made him do the usual military stuff.
Boy: Good morning Sir. Good Morning Madams. I'm Lieutenant Oni Horoshi.
Chyaku: Horoshi, forget about being formal, this is home.
They introduced themselves.
Matsuki: Horoshi Oni. I did some reading before I came. You are the boy who made record in tests.
Horoshi: I was just lucky. They said I was born with the ability to pilot.
Yapioko: Good for you then. How is the feeling like, in the "entry ....something"
Horoshi: Entry plug. You will know soon. It do not feel comfortable in the first few test, but it will be okay after sometime.
(Next morning)
Matsuki woke up early, that has been her usual habit, mostly due to her work load back in force 173. She opened the refrigerator and took out some eggs. Took out a flying-pan and began to make breakfasts for all four. Yapioko heard the noise, but decided to sleep a bit longer. Chyaku walked into the kitchen after the breakfasts were done.
Chyaku: Morning, Matsuki.
Matsuki: Morning.
Chyaku: I never knew that you can cook. (tasted a bit of the food) And you cook well.
Matsuki: Thanks.
Horoshi went into the toilet and came back, looking much more refreshed.
Horoshi: Morning.
Matsuki: Have your breakfast.
Chyaku: Can someone go and wake that pig? (pointing at Yapioko's room)
Matsuki went in and came out with her former superior's daughter.
Horoshi: Morning.
Yapioko: What? arh? (blur) Erm..Morning.
(After 30 minutes)
The children have completed their usual morning newspaper reading.
Matsuki: You are reporting like this?
Horoshi stood there with casual wear.
Horoshi: Yar. Go there, then change to plug suit.
Yapioko: But shouldn't you wear a uniform of some type?
Horoshi: In the first place, I do not have a number 3 like you all.
Chyaku: Let's forget about our "U" then.
When they arrived at the pilot training facility, a scientist made them changed into "plug suit". Horoshi was the "old bird" that led the way. After changing Horoshi led them to a large room, where usually all tests are carry out. The room were large and have about 40 entry plugs arranged in order.
Matsuki: Looks like there are a lot of pilots in training.
Horoshi: In tokyo-2 36, in other part of the world, 40.
Yapioko: I see.
A scientist met up with them.
Scientist: Look like you are ready. Please follow me.
Chyaku: I thought all tests are done here?
Scientist: It is full here, so just follow me, Captain.
Horoshi: I never knew there is another training lab.
Scientist: Just follow.
After going through a long and dark passage, they reached their destination. They were made to sit in the plug.
Scientist: Relax. When LCL filled, do not panic.
The children remembered this instruction like military orders. When the LCL was filled, their natural instinct told them to struggle, but they were trained to obey "military orders" since young. After sitting there silently for 2 hours, they were showed the light again.
Scientist: Okay, all it done.
Horoshi: How is the result?
Scientist: Only the people in the control room knows.
Horoshi: That is strange. The test today seemed different.
Yapioko: Maybe it was because it was done in a different place.
Horoshi: Maybe.
The following two weeks were just the same. Tests after tests. The four lived together in peace, surprisingly. No argument when 4 14-years-lod lived together.
(in a dark room)
The 12 Seeles appeared (sound only).
Seele4: How are the 4 souls of EVA-05 to 13?
Seele11: Just fine. All going as planed.
Seele1: A great step in Human history.
Seele7: Children are best dealt with by children.
Seele2: Just like using poison against poison.
(one morning)
A car arrived at the door. A corporal in UN uniform came knocking at the door, in his hand was a new number 3 attire, 2 bars on the shoulder (Men's version). Chyaku answered, others followed.
Corporal: (Salute) Good morning Sirs. Good morning Ma'am.
Chyaku: Good Morning. (Returned the ceremony)
Corporal: Commander asked you to follow me to the base. I'll drive you there. Please report in number3, Sirs and Ma'am. This is for one of you, Sirs an..(in thought) One of the men, right?
Horoshi: Thanks.
Corporal: You are welcome, Sir.
Matsuki: Give us 5 minutes.
The children went into change. After exactly 5 minutes Yapioko, Chyaku and Matsuki came out in smart number3. Horoshi struggled a bit (first time, most likely), but still came out and looked presentable after Chyaku helped him with some adjustment.
(In the car)
Horoshi: This is the first time someone addressed me "Sir". I never knew I am a officer.
Chyaku: O is it? Where are we going?
Corporal: Base. Major Kaichi will take over from there.
Yapioko: Father?
When they arrived, they were greeted by Kaichi. He led them into a dark room and went out by himself. The same Seele sign appeared. Chyaku, Matsuki and Yapioko have their hands in the pistol holder of their uniform.
Seele1: Great military instinct. But We are friends.
The children did not relax a bit.
Seele12: WE will go straight.
Seele11: We need three of you to do a great thing. Build EVA-series to help kill the Angels
Seele10: Yapioko Kaichi, we have taken your design for EVA Production Model.
Yapioko remembered the time she drew some blueprint, she thought she was only having fun.
Yapioko: What....Hai!
Seele1: Your code name is Soul4.
Seele9: Horoshi Oni, you are to put all your data in the dummy plug for the PM. Kaoru's pattern was rejected. You are his replacement. You have no choice but to accept., cause you are the best around.
Horoshi: Sure. For man-kind.
Seele1: Yes. For man-kind. Your code name: Soul 3.
Seele8: Matsuki Rai. We want your tactical knowledge in the plug as well. Be a ledgen, accept the task. All that you know about tactical battle.
Matsuki: Hai! Why not, time to make my ability into good use.
Seele1: Do a proper job. Soul 2.
Seele7: Chyaku Narami. You know what we need from you.
Seele6: A weapon. Just one for the PM.
Chyaku: Hai!
Seele1: Code name....
Chyaku: Soul1.
Seele2: Yes.
The images disappeared. The door of the room opened.
They spent their next few months in lab., doing their job. No one were allowed to interrupt them. They took pride in their work. Finally, the first EVA-PM, EVA-05 was borned. Others soon followed.
(after two months)
The children walked past the office of Commander Kaichi. Out of curiosity, Chyaku tried to eavesdrop the conversation.
Kaichi: So, when will we launch the attack on Nerv?
Voice1: When the series are done.
Voice2: That will be today.
Kaichi: It is set then. A week later.
(The children's office)
Matsuki: Attack on Nerv?
Chyaku nodded.
Matsuki: With these EVAs?
Horoshi nodded.
Matsuki: I do not like this feeling.
Chyaku: Neither do I.
Horoshi: Let's run.
Then the door went opened. Commander Kaichi came in with 6 other armed soldiers.
Kaichi: I heard that. I can kill you for that offense: Disloyal to the government.
Chyaku: Damn.
Yapioko: I'm not running. Father, I'm not one of them.
Kaichi: Of course my daughter isn't a rebel. 3 of you wanted to go Tokyo-3?
Matsuki: You betrayed your promise. EVA cannot fight other EVAs. Not Nerv.
Kaichi: You still have time. You still have the chance to redeem yourselves.
He went over and talked softly. Chyaku took a deep breath.
Chyaku: I accept.
Matsuki looked stunned, but clamed down slowly.
Matsuki: I accept.
Horoshi: What else can I say?
Kaichi: Good, I'll sent you there. Human Instrumentality project must be completed.
(A week later)
The traveled along with the troops that were ready to invade Nerv. The children were asked to get out at the out-skirt. They went out, and the next moment, they heard bombs falling on Tokyo-3. Explosion followed.
Chyaku: I made the right choice not to chose Yapioko.
Horoshi: But what's the different? WE are still against Nerv if we are to complete out mission.
Matsuki: Didn't you learnt this? A good soldier retreat, so he may fight for his nation on another day. We need to keep our lives.
A few air-crafts in the sky went exploding.
Matsuki: AT-field!?!?
Chyaku: Unit-02.
The next moment, 9 planed arrived. (Those who have watch Eoe will know what are they. Yes, the nine EVA-PM.) The 9 monstrous white EVAs landed.
Chyaku: Why do they look so evil today? They were so good a week ago.
EVA-02 started to destroy the PMs. It gave kicks.
Horoshi: I do not even feel anything for the production models. Did I really created them?
Chyaku and Matsuki nodded.
Then EVA-02 deactivated.
Matsuki: Got the S2 engine?
Horoshi: Nope. Shit....
The weapon of the EVA-PM went flying toward EVA-02. The AT-field stopped it.
Chyaku: The problem is here: My weapon never failed. How I wish it will, now.
The blades changed into a Spear of Longinus, cutting right through the left eyes.
Matsuki: That must hurt a bit. Damn it.
Then the PM started eating EVA-02 up. The internal organ revealed. Taking them up to the sky, drops of "blood" dripping down.
Horoshi: This is what I'm piloting...
Matsuki: I feel sick, literally sick.
Chyaku: Can't stand this sight.
Matsuki: I do not remember putting in this?
Horoshi: Neither did I.
Chyaku: YAPI...
Before he could shout the name out, the EVA-01 appeared. Then ...(read chapter 1: Miracle and chapter 2: The crisis end...for now).
A EVA-PM was pinned to a building 200 meter from their spot. It went exploding. Causing the children to fly.
